Our greatest asset? Our teachers!

At Discover Montessori our teaching faculty and staff are highly educated and very passionate professionals.

All from diverse heritage, our teachers bring their own specialties to the classroom, and all hold Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) certification, Early Childhood Education and Independent Teaching Certificates.

Our staff might prefer the term ‘facilitator’ or 'guide' over the term ‘teacher’.  Rather than contemporary fixed-seating industrial classrooms, the Montessori approach is far more flexible in accommodating individual and cooperative efforts ‘assisted’ by the teacher, not dictated.

The aim is for our teachers to provide an inspiring environment for students, one which enables the student to become independent and engaged with their learning.  Our staff step in only at the right moment in order to build the child's foundation one step - at the right time.

While there are many structured class activities where staff take a more central role, generally speaking the teacher's Montessori training and wisdom determines when to instruct and when to guide, according to each child’s individual strengths and needs.

Far from a top-down approach, our teachers to follow the child.

'The greatest sign of success for a teacher... is to be able to say, 'The children are now working as if I did not exist.'

Dr. Maria Montessori
