Our History

In 1975 the school opened as Nanaimo Montessori School.  

The first Primary classroom was in a garage, bringing the first authentic Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) experience to mid-Island students and families.

The facility was renamed Discover Montessori School in August 2011and is now overseen by Discover Montessori Society.

Discover Montessori School has continued to grow over the last 40+ years.  It is a thriving Primary, Elementary, and Middle School program serving around 100+ students ages 3–15.

Future expansion for all programs is planned as the school moves into a new, environmentally-integrated, purpose-built Montessori Farm School Campus in September 2023.
