Our Montessori Infant-Toddler program is an amazing start for children! Our Montessori program is a licensed,
age-appropriate program that focuses on fostering the young child’s independence.
An emphasis on daily routine provides the child with a comforting schedule and promotes the acquisition of skills, language, cognitive, and social development in a
way that meets the child’s developmental needs at their own pace.
Learning activities / learning areas in the program include:
- Self-Care: such as washing, dressing, toileting, and eating, according to each child’s individual capacity
- Care of the Environment: such as cleaning, food preparation and food service; plant care and animal care
- Large-Motor and Fine-Motor activities (indoors and out): jumping, running, climbing, balance, focus, concentration, etc
- Language: including proper naming of objects, describing actions and intentions, discussing pictures, conversation, music, and singing
- Social Skills: assisting in developing manners through interactions with peers, teachers, and adult-led small group games.
The programs runs:
- 8:30am to 3:00pm
- 5 days a week
- includes children age 18 months to 36 months in a mixed-age class
- a total of 12 spaces, spots filled on a first-come basis (currently full)
- teachers include Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) teachers and 2 trained assistants
- our licensed program meets all Island Health child care licensing requirements for this age group
- when the child turns 3 years old they may enter the Casa program when they are ready, at any time throughout the year (space permitting).
